David C. Wallace, 84, of Rib Lake, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his home, under the care of Hope Hospice and his loving family. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 13 at River of Hope Church in Medford with Pastor Josh Kohl officiating. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

David was born in Burlington, Iowa to Bernard and Nellie (Higgins) Wallace on Aug. 20, 1935. He grew up in Wapello, Iowa and attended Wapello schools. He lived with his grandmother, Ida Mae Wallace. David served in the U.S. Army. He married Virginia Sugden on Nov. 4, 1961 and she survives. He worked at Zelaski Muck Farms in Lake Mills and drove truck for over 35 years. After retirement, he delivered for Meals on Wheels and was also a campground host. In his spare time he liked to fish, hunt and go camping. He enjoyed family get togethers, time with his pets and wild life. He attended Rib Lake Methodist Church.

David is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Virginia. Together they had five children, Nicole (Frank) Buelow of Rib Lake, Neena (Clayton) Szydel of Medford, Ray (Sherry) Wallace of Racine, Rodney (Carol) of Merrill and Michael (Libby) Wallace of Menomonie; 12 grandchildren, Crystal, Sarah, Justin, Joshua, Lacey, Ethan, Erin, David, Kat, Cassie, Melissa and Sydnee; and 16 great-grandchildren. He had four children from a previous marriage, Dawn and Jody, both of Iowa, Debbie “Davetta” Hedgers of Missouri and Sherry Duval of Connecticut and their children. He is further survived by sister-in-law, Odessa Gaugert; and brothers-in-law, William Sugden and David Oemig. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law; granddaughter, Jennifer Wallace; and sister-in-law, Janice Oemig.
