James “Jim” A. Prell, 85, of Medford, died on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Aspirus Medford Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past day. A private family only graveside service will be held at Our Saviours Lutheran Cemetery, township of Holway, with Pastor Amy Heinz officiating. Grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers. A celebration of life gathering will take place and announced at some time in the future.

Jim was born on May 28, 1934 in Medford, the son of Arthur T. and Erma L. (Moore) Prell. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Day School in Medford and was a 1952 graduate of Medford High School. His marriage took place on Aug. 29, 1953 in Curtiss to Charlotte N. Krug and she preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 1991. After his education, Jim farmed in the township of Little Black for many years. While farming, he also drove milk truck, owned his own milk route, worked at Post Mfg. in Owen and at Foremost Foods in Medford for periods of time. He also drove school and coach bus for the Krug family for many years until retirement. He was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, township of Holway.

Jim is survived by a special friend, Virgen Thiel of Medford; children, Frederick Prell of Eau Claire, Linda (Leo “Cliff”) Dyer of Stetsonville and Janet (Jerry) Cypher and Mary (Steve) Henrichs, all of Medford; and sons-in-law, Michael Bertsinger of Stetsonville and Mark (Tammy) Lammar of Wausau. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Krueger of Green Bay and Nancy Nelson of Medford; and in-laws, Gene (Gloria) Krug, Marian (Ken) Nernberger and Judy Nowak, all of Medford, Patty Prell of Bullhead City, Ariz., Juanita Krug of Owen and Lavonne (Bernie) Dums of Holway.

In addition to his wife, Jim was preceded in death by his children, Judith Bertsinger in 2004 and JoEllen Lammar in 1997; and siblings, Dorothy Bach, Jerry Prell and Carol Krug.
