1941-2020

DeLos “Dee” Eugene Spencer, 79, of Medford, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 after a three month illness. A burial at sea is being planned. Dee was born on March 17, 1941 in Rochelle, Ill. to Troy Spencer and Evelyn Durham Skridla. He was educated in Rockford, Ill. He worked at the Chrysler plant in Belvedere, Ill. On Aug. 22, 1964, he married his wife, Marcia R. (Hayenga) Spencer in Rockford, where they lived for eight years before moving to Medford, becoming the plant manager at Liberty Homes. Soon after he became a general contractor and built many homes.

Dee loved boating, camping, wintering in Florida and skeet shooting. He was an avid snowmobiler in his younger years and loved spending time with family. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, where he was on a missile cruiser off the coast of Cuba during the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

In addition to his wife Dee is survived by his children, David (Amy) Spencer of Medford, Darin Spencer of Rhinelander and Derek and Jessie Spencer of Macungie, Pa.; grandchildren, Aaron Spencer, Aaric Spencer, Madlyn Spencer, Brett Spencer, Maddox Spencer and Hudson Spencer; step-grandchildren, Philip, Saydie and Liam; and great-grandchildren, Dominic and Desiray Spencer.

Dee was preceded in death by his parents.
