Florence J. Lemke, 95, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Aspirus Care and Rehab, surrounded by family, under the care of Hope Hospice. A memorial service took place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Rodger Prois officiating. Burial followed at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation took place at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Florence was born on April 20, 1924 to Joseph Sr. and Emma (Mildbrand) Emmerich in the township of Hammel. She married Franklin “Frank” J. Lemke on Sept. 28, 1945 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2001. Florence was a homemaker on the family hobby farm and raised eight children. In her later years she worked at Marathon Cheese until her retirement. Florence loved gardening, flowers and birds. She enjoyed mowing the lawn; she once said “I could do this all day”. She was a wonderful seamstress and sewed many quilts. In later years she enjoyed her Packers and Brewers and loved Animal Planet. Florence was a wonderful cook and was known for the hearty meat and potato meals she prepared.

Florence is survived by her children, Sandi (Paul) Lukewich, John (Ann) Lemke, James Lemke and Tim (Sally) Lemke, all of Medford, Donna (Craig) Dahlvig of Hatley and Tom Lemke of Minnesota. She is further survived by numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Florence was preceded in death by her siblings, Melvin, Artie, Alfred, Clarence, Ray, Joe Jr., Edmun, Daisy, Eleanor and Edna; and daughters, Patty in March 2004 and Linda Jari in August 2018.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Florence’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Ladies Quilting.
