The Cadott FFA has had a very busy, but successful year, ending the 2018-19 school year, with Regional Career Development Events in River Falls, receiving first in award of excellence.

Teams that competed at Regionals and advanced to state in Madison, included ag business, forestry, livestock, nursery and landscape, and veterinary science. To wrap up the 2018-19 school year, the Cadott FFA hosted an end-of-theyear banquet.

FFA members received their various degrees and awards, and new officers – Ben Steffes, Liz Steffes, Jordan Gillis, Ashley Rajek, Taylor Lindsay and Gavin Tegels – were sworn into office. After that, everyone partook in a meal provided by the organization.

This summer, nine FFA members attended the FFA State Convention in Madison. Members went to various workshops, as well as attending a Chris Kroeze concert.

One of the biggest events of the summer, was the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, where eight FFA members showed livestock. Levi Lindsay had a reserve champion steer, as well as grand champion rate of gain. B. Steffes received the beef total performance award. Tegels, T. Lindsay and DeAnna Schneider had division champions in beef breeding stock.

Soon after the fair, B. Steffes, L. Steffes and Rajek attended the Washington Leadership Conference.

“It was truly a life-changing experience,” said L. Steffes. “I would recommend going if you get the chance.”

To kick off the new 2019-20 school year, the officer team attended a Sectional Leadership Workshop, hosted by the Barron FFA. Following the workshop, members participated in dairy judging and dairy products, judging at the World Dairy Expo in Madison.

After that, five members attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., taking part in workshops, as well as a Brett Young concert.

One major part of the Cadott FFA organization, are the meals.

“You will never leave hungry when you come to an FFA meeting around here,” said Tegels.

The FFA hosted a Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner, staff breakfast, and always provides FFA members and staff with popcorn every other Friday, throughout the school year.

FFA week was Feb. 17-21, where members saw activities throughout the week, including a hay bale and a tire toss. Members also received string cheese and root beer floats.
