James Broeske

James “Jim” E. Broeske, age 68, of Colby, entered eternal rest on July 31, 2026, at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Deacon Michael Schaefer will preside. Friends are welcome to greet family from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Jim was born on August 28, 1957, the son of Eugene and Florence (Stauner) Broeske in Medford. He graduated from Abbotsford High School. On October 11,1985, Jim was united in marriage to Cheryl Sterzinger at Saint Mary Help of Christian Parish in Colby. From this marriage they welcomed three children: Kimberly, Tyler and Ashley. Cheryl preceded him in death on April 14, 2026.

Jim was a dedicated farmer, father and sawmill worker. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed woodworking. Jim found solace in helping others, volunteering, listening to country music, and watching his favorite shows and sport. He always had a smile on his face, especially when telling stories. Jim had a special place in his heart for all of his dogs.

Jim is survived by his three children: Kimberly Broeske of Neillsville, Tyler Broeske of Black River Falls and Ashley (Travis) Krug of Green Bay; his two brothers and one sister: David (Linda) Broeske of Dorchester, Jean Beisner of Colby and Donald Broeske of Rib Lake; many nieces and nephews and greatnieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cheryl; two sisters: Carol Stuttgen and Marilyn Broeske; a brother, Duane and a brother-in-law, Dennis Beisner.

The family would like to thank Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center for the wonderful care Jim received.
