Memorial Day ceremonies planned in Abby, Dorchester

Memorial Day services will be held in Abbotsford and Dorchester this year on Monday, May 25.

VFW Post 2227 will be holding their annual ceremony at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery north of the city on Highway 13. Those attending the service will gather at the grave of Robert Morrow, who was the last veteran to be buried at the cemetery. The Colby High School band will also perform at the ceremony. The service will begin at 10 a.m.

American Legion Post 517 will also hold their Memorial Day services at four different locations in and around Dorchester.

The services will be held at the Christian Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Holton at 10 a.m., the Norwegian Evangelical Cemetery in Dorchester at 10:30 a.m., the north Dorchester Memorial Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. and the south Dorchester Memorial Cemetery at 11 a.m., which will feature guest speaker Father Keith Kitzhaber and music performed by the Colby High School band.
