Clarence “Cabby” Wild, 92, of Plymouth passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Bay and Landing in Elkhart Lake. Cabby was born on Nov. 18, 1933 in Medford. He was the son of the late William and Gladys Wild. He attended Medford High School and graduated in 1951. He was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in football, basketball and baseball. Cabby was named to the all-conference basketball and baseball teams. Cabby was inducted into the Medford High School Hall of Fame in 1996. He attended Wisconsin State College – River Falls and graduated with a BS Degree in Education in 1955. He played basketball and baseball for four years and was named to the Wisconsin State College All-State Basketball Team in 1955. He received his Masters Degree at the University of Northern Colorado in 1969.

After college, Cabby taught and coached basketball at Iola, for one year. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was married to Joan Kalmon in 1957 while stationed in Fort Sill, Okla. From there they moved to Plymouth in 1958. Cabby was employed by the Plymouth School District from 1958 until his retirement in 1997. He taught science, physical education and health. He was involved in coaching as assistant basketball coach for 10 years and head coach for seven years, head baseball coach for 10 years and assistant gootball coach for 10 years. He was named athletic director in 1977 and served the position for 20 years. In 1994, the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association named Cabby Athletic Director of the Year for the State of Wisconsin. He was Plymouth High School pool director for 30 years.

He was a member of the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association and National Athletic Administrators Association and served as a delegate to the National Convention for three years.

Cabby managed the Plymouth City baseball team for several years and worked with the Junior Football League as a director and referee. He worked with the

American Red Cross as a part of the County Disaster Committee, Health Services Committee and Water Safety Committee. He was an instructor trainer for the American Red Cross. After his retirement, Cabby became a volunteer for the Sheboygan County Habitat for Humanity Program. He was a member of the Monday Senior Golf League at Quit Qui Oc and served as president from 2004.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He served as chairman of the school board and was active as a communion distributor. Cabby served on the building committee for the Baer Center and the school addition.

Cabby is survived by his daughter, Susan (Mike) Masterson, of Iron River; two sons, Timothy (Madelyn) Wild, of Wales, and Mark (Shana) Wild, of Cedarburg; nine grandchildren, Dr. Megan Schmitt (John) Nolan, of Edina, Minn., Hanna Schmitt, of Minneapolis, Minn., Lucas Masterson, of Chisolm, Minn., Anthony (Fumi) Wild, of Taycheedah, Emily (Derrick) Wood, of Waukesha, Jenny (Zach) Wade, of Muskego, Elizabeth (Bryan) Taylor, of Cedarburg, Jessica Wild, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Ben Wild, of Milwaukee; greatgrandchildren, Lochlan Cabby, Glenna, Cormac, Colson Allen Bell “CAB”, Ellis, Jordy, Millie, Corey, and Miri; three sisters, Shirley, of Medford, Carol, of Mellen, and Karen, of Sun Prairie; and special friend, Sally. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cabby was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; and one brother, William.

A private family service to honor Cabby’s life and a public Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Antonio’s Sports Bar and Grille from 3:30-7:30 p.m. All that knew Cabby are welcome to join the family in celebrating his life and sharing memories and stories.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and the staff and residents who became like family at the Bay and Landing in Elkhart Lake.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Bay, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and St. Thomas the Aquinas Catholic Church.

The Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes, Wittkopp location, is assisting the family with arrangements.
