Greenwood turns into giant game of Clue

End of Summer Fest invites sleuths of all ages to solve a life-sized murder mystery
This Saturday, Sept. 6, downtown Greenwood will transform into a giant game board in a live-action twist on the classic mystery game Clue. As part of the city’s much-anticipated End of Summer Fest celebration, the community is invited to step into the shoes of detectives and help solve the mystery of Mr. Boddy’s untimely demise.
The interactive event, “Greenwood Get AClue,” kicks off at noon outside Branstiter’s Museum. Participants will meet the cast of colorful suspects, each armed with alibis and secrets. Every player or team will receive a free Clue case file, complete with character profiles, possible murder weapons, and key locations throughout Greenwood, along with hints on where to investigate. If sleuths get stumped, they can check in with the game master for guidance. The game master this year is Megan Larson of Thorp.
In this life-sized version of Clue, Greenwood itself becomes the game board. Suspects roam the streets, interact with players, and drop bits of information as budding detectives piece together the crime. Participants can play solo or as a team, making it a perfect family activity, an afternoon outing with friends, or a fun challenge for kids and adults alike. The ultimate goal: determine who committed the crime, where it happened, and with what weapon.
Best of all, the event is completely free, thanks to sponsorship from Dallman Insurance and Brenda Thomas, independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay.
“This is one of the most interactive and entertaining events of the summer,” organizers said. “Whether you’re a seasoned mystery lover or just looking for something fun to do with family and friends, everyone is welcome to join the case.”
Participants are encouraged to arrive early, with registration opening at 11:30 a.m. in front of Branstiter’s Museum. The mystery officially begins at 12 p.m. sharp, and sleuths will have until 2:30 p.m. to turn in their final accusations. At 2:50 p.m., the suspects will return for the dramatic final reveal — along with prize drawings for three lucky winners (must be present to win).
