Relinquishing control

Relinquishing control Relinquishing control

Halfway through the year and almost to the longest day of the year. Or rather the longest time of sunlight cast on this geological area. That is, if we actually get to see it or if it will rain all the way through. It would be nice to have more sunny days than rain but no one can control the weather so we must just roll with the flow. Any type of weather, but especially when it is not sunny or the like, it tends to give us one of the great lessons in life. It reminds us that despite the circumstances, we all must just roll with what is happening and try to make the best out of the whole thing.

How does someone relinquish worry? To completely let go of the thing you are holding on to so tightly? In society there is that saying, “if you love something or someone you must let them go and if they return it is truly meant for you” (or something along those lines). How is one actually supposed to accomplish that when, whether it be an actual person or a dream and desire you have, it is so attached to your heart?

The universe, or whatever higher being you believe in, gives you the opportunity to practice that feeling again. For example, I celebrated a birthday recently and I had made plans to do a lot of activities outside - golfing, kayaking, outdoor games and bonfires, grilled steak and veggies, etc. Did the weather allow me to enjoy any of those? I got to do one, and even on the fairway and greens I got rained on. Did I go in after it stopped raining? No, I played the rest of the holes and I still loved it. It felt good to feel the rain on my body. However, it did have me rethink every other plan I had made and we made it through. With a little bit of nonchalant attitude and an open mind, improvising was key. Being able to roll with what was given to us and still enjoy the days spent, without getting too bent out of shape about the whole ordeal. It is easy to get there, especially when it seems like this was the coldest and wettest birthday when I’m used to bright, dry and summer sun out on my birthday.

Another example could be, if you are asking for patience - you want that nagging feeling inside of you to go away - the universe (God) will give you more opportunities for that patience to be shown. The universe (God) will continue to answer you. It’s just in the way you receive your message and what path you would like to take from there.

I took the lead from the weather and it was like I was dancing with nature, in a way. She was able to give me a gift of playing like a kid in an arcade - the opportunity to tap into my creative youthful side of excitement to play. Relinquishing control over to the universe can be hard but in the end, worth it. It may not be what you imagined in your mind but you will still enjoy the life it turns into - if you allow yourself to. This doesn’t mean I have to give up hope for I would like to see and feel happen, just the control on how it comes to me. It’s my choice on which way I feel myself.
