Knights battle hard, but fall short in pair of games
By Ginna Young
The odds are sometimes stacked against them, but the Cornell-Lake Holcombe baseball players never give up, as shown against a couple of conference foes.
May 13 vs. Clear Lake conference (L 14-4)
On the road at Clear Lake, the Knights tried valiantly to match the home team, but to no avail, watching the match go to Clear Lake, 14-4.
“Bats were moving and we were trying, but we didn’t score any runs until the fourth inning, with two outs,” said coach Phylicia Smith. “Those boys battled SO HARD at the end.”
May 15 vs. Bruce conference (L 11-1)
Just a couple days later, the Knights hosted Bruce, but couldn’t get any offense going and the game went to the Raiders, 11-1.
