Taylor County skirts sizable bill by picking up its own road salt
On Tuesday, Jon Bauer (left) took highway commissioner Ben Stanfley (right) and members of the Taylor County Highway Committee on a tour of the Bauer Trucking facility on Hwy 64 a mile east of Medford. The company closed with Bauer’s retirement at the end of 2024 and he approached the county about potentially purchasing the property which includes shop buildings, storage and offices for highway department use all on 34 acres of land. Discussion is in the preliminary stages. Sometimes it is cheaper to just do it yourself.
Taylor County learned that lesson when the county got questioned on salt prices for road salt.
Medford Area Public Schools inducted Brian Hallgren (above, left), Brent Hallgren (above, right) and Ryan Goessl (in photo to right) into the Academic Hall of Fame at a ceremony held Monday night. The Hallgrens are 1979 graduates of Medford Area Senior High School and Goessl graduated in 2000.
