Nikolai, Tsai, Wolf win individual events at Stanley-Boyd

The Loyal Greyhounds track and field athletes traveled to Stanley for a meet hosted by Stanley-Boyd High School last Friday. The day started off rainy, but cleared up enough for a complete, albeit chilly, outdoor track and field meet. Loyal saw three first-place finishers.
Athletes had to place in the top eight to score points for their team. Point scorers for Loyal were as follows.
Building on her success from three days earlier at Neillsville, Loyalâs Addysen Wolf continued her winning ways by placing first in the high jump, as well as taking second in two other events. Wolf cleared the bar at 4 feet, 8 inches (4-8) to win the high jump. She also took second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.77, approximately four-tenths of a second behind the first-place finisher; and placed second in the 200m dash with a time of 27.95. Olivia Nikolai won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 7-6.
Other girls results were as follows. Hope Peroshek took third in the discus throw with a distance of 86-4. Summer Smith placed fourth in the triple jump, with a distance of 30-3. Alexis Meyer took fourth in the high jump, reaching a height of 4-6. Kennedy Luchterhand took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 28-10. She also placed fifth in the discus throw with a distance of 72-8. Gwen LaMarr took seventh in the 800m run with a time of 3:04.23.
The girls 4x100m relay team won their event with a time of 54.68. Team members were Summer Smith, Hope Peroshek, Noelle Teschner, and Wolf. The girls 4x200m relay, which consisted of Smith, Peroshek, Teschner, and Raelyn Fritz, placed fourth with a time of 2:01.97.
Although the girls scored points in a good number of events â 12 of them â they faced stiff competition from the other area schools and ended up finishing in the middle of the pack. The Loyal girls took sixth out of 10 teams with 75.5 points. The hosting Orioles won the meet with 117.5 points, while Prentice had the fewest points with 9.
Payton Tsai won the pole vault for the boys, clearing the bar at 11-6. The boys 4x100m relay team placed fourth at 50.99. Team members were Jacob Schmidt, Joe Treffinger, Andrew Lavengood, and Jerome Buchanan. Jaden Smith placed third in the discus throw, sending the disc 104-11; and eighth in the shot put, sending the shot 33-9. The Loyal boys placed ninth out of 10 teams with 22 points. Stratford, the winning boys team, had 189.5 points, while Prentice, the 10th place team, had 8 points.
