After a delayed flight and a short taxi ride to the hotel, I finally arrived at the Washington Leadership Conference (WLC) with Chapter Treasurer, Carlie Stahel. At first, it felt like just another busy week.

I’d already traveled extensively, from Canada to the Dakotas to a summer camp in the Northwoods, so this seemed like just another stop on my journey. The first few days were spent adjusting—getting to know our roommates, our community group, and the humid DC air. But as the week unfolded, it became much more than I expected.

Throughout the week, I immersed myself in camaraderie, leadership experiences, and unforgettable moments. Carlie and I visited historical landmarks like the Capitol Building, the Library of Congress, and Arlington National Cemetery. Along the way, I made countless new friends from around the United States, gained invaluable leadership skills, and helped pack meals for the homeless as part of the community service opportunities offered at WLC. Most importantly, I left WLC as a better person.

The knowledge, insight, and growth I gained during this trip are irreplaceable. WLC taught me the importance of leadership, teamwork, and service.

I would strongly encourage anyone to join FFA and more importantly take advantage of this life-changing opportunity. Beyond the lessons you’ll learn, you’ll create lasting memories and connections. No matter where life takes you after high school, you’ll always have a home in FFA.
