LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Mailers spreading lies about Voss
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
As a Clark County supervisor and a brother-in-law to Lori Voss for 48 years, I can no longer stay silent about what is playing out to an outstanding citizen, business woman and very dedicated first responder/EMT.
Whatever side of the aisle people are on, there is one thing we can all agree on. Dirty campaigning based on lies, halftruths and manipulative tactics have no place in any election, much less the current Republican primary for the 69th Assembly seat.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what a well-financed group is doing to Lori Voss. The so-called “Stronger Wisconsin Fund” is sending mailers to residents throughout the area trying to sully Lori’s stellar reputation. Their mailers are nothing short of political character assassination.
This same group is also sending puff piece mailers out to support Lori’s opponent, Karen Hurd. I’m not certain why they are spending thousands of dollars in this race but I am sure of one thing – they are lying.
They are lying when they say Lori Voss took a raise as mayor. In fact, a raise for the mayor was never put on the table for discussion. She didn’t. She saved taxpayers money by cutting waste and streamlining city government. She might be a penny-pinching fiscal conservative but she sure as heck isn’t a tax and spender.
And, by the way, the mayor in Abbotsford doesn’t even have a vote on the city council and doesn’t have the power to raise taxes. But this group doesn’t care about facts or the truth.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this level of dirty campaign tricks here in Clark County. It’s shameless and may very likely be illegal.
I hope this helps set the record straight about the nasty lies that this dark money group is trying to get you to believe about Lori Voss. How dare they attack a woman who is a veteran who served her country, is a first responder/EMT and runs a successful small business. So the next time you get one of these mailers trying to sully the reputation of Lori Voss, put it where it belongs – in the trash.
