The Cornell boys basketball program was in action, Dec. 20, hosting East Lakeland Conference opponent Winter. Everything fell into place for the Chiefs and they went into halftime sporting an 11-point lead.
They never lost that momentum and came away with a 78-58 win, improving their record to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the league.
“Good solid first win of the season,” said coach Jon Hetke.
Junior Carson Stipek led the way for Cornell, ending the night with 23 points, followed closely by sophomore Bryce DeJongh, with 20. Senior Hunter Anders was right behind, with 19 points, while sophomore Eddie Woodford had 8.
Adding 6 points to the mix, was junior Grady Abbott, with senior Preston Fredrickson chipping in with 2.
“Hopefully, we can build off of tonight, and continue to improve and get more wins on the season,” said Hetke.
