■ ■ July 16 - An officer met with a complainant at the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department in regards to a lost ID card. The complainant stated they had lost their ID card approximately 2-3 days prior and had been told they needed a police report issued on the matter before they could receive another ID card from the proper authorities.
■ ■ July 16 - An officer took a report on a found dog at a residence in Abbotsford. The officer located the owners of the dog, who confirmed it had gotten loose and ran away. The officer informed the owners that they would be cited if it ran off again.
■ ■ July 17 - An officer received a theft complaint from the director of a local nursing home. The director stated that a resident had stolen shoes from another resident, and had a history of stealing multiple other items from other residents and facility offices. After confirming the ownership of the shoes, the officer met with the resident who stated they had bought the shoes from Dollar General with their daughter. The officer was unable to confirm the resident’s alibi and issued them a citation for theft.
■ ■ July 17 - An officer conducted a paper service to an individual on behalf of Abbyland, which consisted of a letter stating the individual was not allowed on any Abbyland property and would be arrested or cited upon a failure to comply.
■ ■ July 18 - An officer was dispatched to a residence in Colby for a male subject in distress. Upon arrival the officer met with the subject’s wife who took the officer to her husband’s location. An ambulance was requested by the officer after speaking with the individual who stated he wanted help and would go voluntarily to the hospital to seek help. The officer observed minor injuries to the individual as well as one on his wife. When asked about the injuries the wife chose to remain silent on the matter. Later the officer was informed of a written statement from the EMT stating the wife had been violent toward the individual and that she would need to be arrested for domestic disorderly conduct. The officer conducted the arrest, then met with the individual for a statement. The individual stated he was not scared of his wife and did not want the injuries documented. He stated there had been prior domestic incidents and expressed a desire for the couple to get professional help. The individual filled out the paperwork and waived the 72-hour no contact order.
■ ■ July 18 - An officer was contacted by a resident of Colby for a scam complaint. The complainant stated they had received a phone call from an unidentified female who told them that she was from a process service company and they had paperwork that needed to be served to her in regard to a small claims case from the Clark County Sheriff's Office. The caller asked if the complainant would be home from 9 a.m. to noon on July 22, which the complainant confirmed they would be. The complainant stated they then called the clerk of court at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office to inquire if there was an open case on them that they were unaware of. The clerk of courts office denied there being any open cases that they would need papers served to them for. The complainant stated that their daughter had been giving out their information online and was worried the call might be related. They expressed concern about someone coming to their residence on the date inquired about by the caller. The officer advised the complainant to call law enforcement if someone does come to their residence, which the complainant agreed to.
■ ■ July 20 - An officer responded to a traffic complaint in the city of Colby of a white Chevrolet truck, traveling south on Sixth St., swerving all over the road. The driver did not yield to the officer’s emergency lights and accelerated upon the activation of their emergency siren, only coming to a stop upon the arrival of a Clark County deputy’s squad car. The driver showed signs of heavy intoxication while in contact with the officers. They consented to a field sobriety test as well as a preliminary breath test. The result of the PBT was 0.203. The driver was placed under arrest for operating while under the influence and the second registered owner of the vehicle was contacted to take responsibility for the property. The driver refused an evidentiary chemical test of their blood so a warrant was requested and executed to acquire one. The driver was issued citations for operating while under the influence (5), misdemeanor fail to stop/fleeing Officer, and a written warning for a defective tail lamp cover. The officer completed the notice of intent to revoke operating privilege.
■ ■ July 21 - An officer received a complaint of a vehicle swerving all over both lanes and driving about 55 mph while traveling eastbound on Highway 29. The officer was advised that the registered owner of the vehicle had a revoked driving status and no license issued. A traffic stop was conducted on N. Fifth St. in Abbotsford. The driver was identified as well as the front seat passenger and three minor passengers in the back seats, identified as the driver’s children. The driver consented to doing a field sobriety test as well as a preliminary breath test, the results of which was a 0.200. The driver was placed under arrest for operating while under the influence. The driver was issued citations for operating while under the influence with passengers under 16 (2nd), operating with PAC (2nd), and operating after revocation (criminal).
■ ■ July 21 - An officer received a call about an assault that had taken place between the caller and an unknown individual outside of a bar in Colby. The caller stated that they had been inside the establishment but left after seeing a bottle get thrown. Outside they came into contact with the unknown individual that had been part of the fight inside. The individual accused the caller of cutting them with a knife in the bar and wanted to fight. The caller stated that they agreed to fight and received injuries to the face before they were separated. When asked if the caller wanted to press charges they declined as they believed it to be a mutual fight, however they stated they called because they had heard that the unknown individual was going to press charges against him for cutting them with a knife. The caller denied cutting the individual or having any responsibility for the individual being cut. The caller denied seeing any cut marks on the unknown individual during their encounter.
■ ■ July 21- An officer was alerted to an individual that wanted to make a court violation complaint against another individual with a no contact order against their daughter. The officer spoke with the complainant over the phone who stated that he and his daughter had been watching the Colby Cheese Day Parade when the individual, who had been participating in the parade, noticed the daughter in the crowd. The individual waved at her and said that she loved and missed her and could not wait to see her. The complainant had a witness to the incident and both agreed to fill out statement forms on the matter. The officer later made contact with the individual and explained the complaint against them. The individual admitted that she did tell the daughter that she loved her and waved at her. Request for charges was completed by the officer.
