thursday, january 25, 1973 Debi Gust named Edgar DAR The winner of the D.A.R. Good Citizen Contest at Edgar High School is Debi Gust. Debi is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gust, Edgar.
Candidates for this award are judged on the basis of dependability, leadership, patriotism and service of home, church and community. Winners of the local contests are eligible to enter the state D.A.R. Good Citizen Contest where a $100.00 bond is awarded for the first place winner.

wednesday, january 28, 1998 Athens industrial park ok’d The Athens Village Board voted Monday night to create an industrial park on a 118-acre parcel in the southeast corner of Athens owned by a local investor group, ACRE, Inc.
Without dissent, the board agreed to designate Athens Village President Matt Viegut as negotiator for the purchase of the parcel.
The board also agreed to hire Remedial Engineering, Inc., Wausau, to engineer improvements to the land as needed, including roads, water lines and a booster station to maintain water pressure in the area. The engineering firm will be paid on a time and materials basis.

thursday, january 25, 1973 Senior citizens meet The Stratford Senior Citizens club met in St. Joseph’s hall on Wednesday, January 17. President George Burkart called the meeting to order and led in the Pledge to the Flag.
The following were elected to the board of directors: Ezra Brown and Mrs. Charles Raugh for three-year terms; Myron Kaiser for two-year term; Mrs. Emma Seelow for a one-year term; the latter two are to fill unexpired terms of members deceased in 1972.

wednesday, january 28, 1998 FHA’ers focus on grade school children Four members of the Stratford Middle School FHA planned and presented programs to grade school classes.
Jenny Marsh and Brandi Karl went to the grade school classrooms to talk about the hazards of smoking. Katie Kuenhold and Shawn Landwehr discussed disabilities with grade school students.
Both duos held contests -- posters and essays -- with the winners receiving prizes. They will present their projects to judges at the February 28 STAR event contest at Marshfield Senior High.
