Two open seats in Medford city council races

There could be some new faces on the Medford City Council this spring.

With less than a week to go for people to submit candidate paperwork, City Clerk Ashley Lemke reports that two incumbents have filed that they will not seek reelection and two incumbents have taken out papers to run for reelection.

Second district council member Greg Knight who represents the southeastern quarter of the city of Medford has filed a declaration of non-candidacy.

According to Lemke, former long-time council member Peggy Kraschnewski is circulating papers for the seat currently held by Knight.

In the city’s third district, covering the southwestern quarter of the city, council member Dave Roiger has also filed a declaration of non-candidacy. Lemke says that Randy Haynes is circulating nomination papers to run for the seat currently held by Roiger.

Fourth district council member Mike Bub, representing the northwest corner of the city, is circulating nomination papers.

First district council member Laura Holmes, representing the northeast quarter of the city of Medford, is also circulating nomination paper.

In the village of Rib Lake the incumbents are all currently running unopposed for their positions.

William Schreiner will be seeking another term as village president. Russell Bullis, George Tesch and Rocky Jones are all seeking reelection as village trustees.

On the Rib Lake school board Nicole Scheller who represents the towns of Spirit and Hill on the board is running for reelection. Current board vice president Jason Dananay who represents the village of Rib Lake on the board has indicated he is not running for reelection.

Village of Rib Lake residents and Town of Spirit and Hill residents have until January 3 to complete paperwork to run in the election.

Also up for election this spring are town boards in all of the county’s municipalities. Slates of candidates for town board races and the village of Gilman will be decided after municipal caucuses are held in the next few weeks.
