After participating in the 92nd Annual Wisconsin State FFA Convention, area FFA chapters saw their members come home with numerous awards for work done during the past year. After holding an online Convention last year, the Convention was held in-person from July 5-8, with awards being given out for work done both in 2020 and in 2021.

The Granton FFA chapter received several awards as a chapter at State Convention. The chapter was selected to be the Section 7 chapter represented in the Hall of Stars. They also had top placings in several categories in the National Chapter Award, which the chapter filled out an application for back in April. The Granton FFA took Gold in the National Chapter Award, taking 8th place overall as a chapter and placed in the top 10 in the three areas of the application, taking 9th place in Growing Leaders, 9th in Building Communities and took 7th place in Strengthening Agriculture.

The Granton FFA also placed 6th in the state for their Food For America program and was the State Winner of the “Largest Percent FFA Membership to School Population” award, with 81 percent of Granton School District students in grades 7-12 being in the FFA program.

Individually, several members of the Granton FFA received awards at the State FFA Convention. The Parliamentary Procedure Team of Alexis Pongratz, Rhiannon Reimer, Lizzy Reinart, Abby Schoessow, Caleb Schoessow and Abby Woller traveled to State to compete. Taking the State Runner-up award was the Middle School Quiz Bowl team of Jordan Berg, Emma Brookhart and Tori Seif.

Jordan Berg earned Silver in the Agri-Science Fair category; Kristin Strey was named a Three Star Leader for her leadership role as the Granton 2020-21 Chapter President; Rhiannon Reimer and Hannah Walter were awarded State Degrees for the 2020 year and Makenzie Muraski, Ashlee Piskow and Kristin Strey were awarded State Degrees for the 2021 year. Earning Profiencey Awards for the Granton FFA were Abby Woller, who took fourth place in Fruit Production, and Rhiannon Reimer, who placed first in Vegetable Production and who will be moving on to Nationals to be held in Indianapolis, Ind. in October.

For the Greenwood FFA, several individuals earned awards at the FFA State Convention. Holly Davidson was a 2021 recipient of the FFA State Degree. Korinna Johnson took second place in Equine Science for her Placement Proficiency Award and Destiny Durrstein represented the Greenwood FFA as part of the Wisconsin FFA Choir.

For the Loyal FFA, Brianna Hederer competed in the State Prepared Speaking LDE and was also named a 2020 recipient of the FFA State Degree. Brandon Jakobi took first place in the Agriculture Services Proficiency Category and will be moving on to National competition to be held in Indianapolis, Ind. in October. Also representing the Loyal FFA were Nicholas Wilke and Devani Hinklemann, who served as voting delegates.
