Vox Pop - Writer disagrees with recent Vox Pop about border issues

Vox Pop

Dear Star News, Vox Pop (May 23) by Betty Danen on Tom Tiffany’s “border security” issue deserves a strong rebuke. In defending one of the most bigoted and reactionary members of Congress, the writer also fails on the facts regarding undocumented people entering the southern border. The letter fails to mention that border crossings have dropped by 40% in the past 8-months, and grossly inflates the actual numbers. Only pandemic restrictions stopped the border crossings under Trump, not his “border wall.”

Joe Biden’s agreements with the Mexican government is preventing up to 8,000 crossings from Mexico, mostly from Central American Countries. Biden’s recent executive order limiting daily crossings will be a big help.

The Vox Pop also fails to mention that Tiffany & Republicans in Congress (per Trump’s command) rejected the bipartisan border deal that was authored by Republican Senator Langford. Why? To allow the “border crisis” to be used as a campaign issue for Trump. To make matters worse, the Vox Pop states that Rep. Tiffany voted against Ukraine funding because of the southern border. Really? So thousands of innocent Ukrainians are slaughtered while this false equivalency is used as an excuse to delay funding. Space does not allow for a total review of “Toxic Tom’s” horrible record in Congress. Suffice to say, he has voted against every single measure in Congress that would help people in the 7th District. Literally everything.
