By Ginna Young

The Cadott softball program had one last game on the schedule for the regular season, May 14, hosting West Cloverbelt Conference Thorp.

On the mound for the Hornets, was junior Kasey Moldrem, who went all seven innings, notching 11 strikeouts and only earning one run, to give Cadott the win over the Cardinals, 4-2.

Cadott had 13 hits on the scoreboard, with junior Rilei Weeks and sophomore Lexi Bremness each going three for three, while Moldrem and sophomore Karlee Davis each had 2 hits. Senior, Bella Barone also added to the hits, with a triple.

Weeks and sophomore Abi Bowe each had an RBI, and the other two runs were stolen.

“It was a great night for the Hornets,” said assistant coach Allie Webster.

Cadott ends the regular season with a 9-10 overall record, while sitting at 5-9 in league play.

The Hornets will now have a first-round bye in the WIAA playoffs, on the road May 21, as the No. 4 seed against No. 4 Boyceville.
