Sectional is next

After a one-year stop in Black River Falls, WIAA sectional competition returns to Colby Saturday. The schedule is a bit different than previous years, however, as Colby will also host Division 3 competition in the morning. The Division 2 meet starts with the boys at 2:45 p.m. The girls will follow at 3:45 p.m.

The top two teams and the top five individuals from non-qualifying teams in each race will advance to the Oct. 28 state championships in Wisconsin Rapids.

The girls are gunning for a fifth straight championship in Division 2 sectionals, but the competition is certainly tougher this year with top-five ranked Shawano and Tomahawk being in the mix.

Hraby is gunning for his third straight individual state appearance in the boys meet, which will include ranked teams from Lakeland and Shawano.

“We’ll see what next Saturday brings,” Meyer said. “Give it another week of working and mental training and we’ll see what will come.”
