May 12, 1999 Old library building eyed as Chamber of commerce office 25 Years Ago

With the Medford Area Chamber of commerce rapidly running out of storage space at its present location, Chamber officials are taking a serious look at using the old Medford public library as a Chamber office.

The building, which is registered as a historic landmark, is located on Perkins Street at the south end of Main Street. It has been vacant since last January when the library moved into a new building on the north end of Main Street.

75 Years Ago May 12, 1949 Closed Deer Season Favored for Count

By the overwhelming vote of 87 to 5, the sportsmen of Taylor county went on record Monday evening as favoring a closed deer season for this fall in the county. As had been anticipated, the deer question generated the most interest, and many of those in attendance voiced opinions and asked questions.

The meeting was held at the courthouse and was supervised by John Marcon, conservation warden. Dr. F.J. Martin, chairman of the county conservation committee, presided, and was assisted by Wm. Zagorski, town of Grover, committee member. Miss Cleo Studinger was the stenographic reporter.

100 Years Ago May 15, 1924 First National Bank of Medford Building New Home

The First National Bank of Medford is building a beautiful new home at the corner of State and Main Streets and expects to be located in same within a few months. We are indebted to the contractors, Moorman & Co., and of the bank officers for the following information concerning the handsome new home and the history of the institution from its start as the Commercial State Bank.

Perkinstown Community Church

Perkinstown Community Church will have a 7 p.m. Service on May 17 with Nancy Amacher as minister.

Lunch and coffeee will be served after the service.
