Hornets sink to Lakers

In their conference opener Sept. 1, against Turtle Lake, the Cadott football team struggled to find their offensive rhythm, as the Lakers scored a touchdown just minutes after the game started. Cadott answered back just before the start of the second quarter, tying up the game, 7-7.
The Lakers weren’t taking that lying down and snapped back with two more touchdowns before the break, but neither team scored in the third quarter of the second half. Cadott wouldn’t back down to the challenge and came up with another touchdown in the fourth to cut the Lakers’ score to 21-12.
With the Hornets closing in, Turtle Lake made one last offensive push and got into the endzone for the final score of the game. Cadott’s time ran out and their visiting opponents walked away with a 27-12 victory.
“Tough loss, had a key player injured prior to the game,” said coach Jeff Goettl.
Senior Easton Goodman racked up an impressive 187 yards rushing and scored 2 touchdowns, followed by junior Warren Bowe, with 43 yards, while senior Connor Roth had 14 and senior Jordan Peters ended with 13 yards rushing.
Bowe finished the night with 24 yards receiving and scored a touchdown, and senior Nolan Blum added 15 yards on receiving. Peters also came away with 39 yards passing.
