In September, the Abbotsford FFA members traveled to Granton High School, where they attended the Fall Leadership Conference. This year, there were seven Abbotsford FFA members in attendance. The leadership workshop was led by the state FFA officers, including our Section 7 state officer Lizzy Reinart.

Our FFA members enjoyed attending the workshops that included learning about the proper FFA official dress and the endless opportunities that FFA has in store. This leadership workshop equipped our members with tools to better our chapter. We are excited to take more members next year sharing this wonderful experience with all.

Leadership Development Event

Five members from the Abbotsford FFA competed in the Leadership Development Event in Greenwood this January. Abbotsford competed in the Discussion Meet, Creed Speaking and Employability Skills events. Students competing in Discussion Meet were given a current problem within agriculture and had to discuss a potential solution with other FFA members in the competition.

Those participating in Creed Speaking had to memorize the FFA Creed and answer questions about what the Creed means to them. The Employability Skills section required students to create a resume and cover letter prior to the contest. At the contest, members completed a job application and underwent a job interview with a panel of judges. Abbotsford FFA did not have any members move on to Sectionals, but those who competed learned from their peers and took advice from the judges to improve for next year.

BECOMING ROLE MODELS - Members of the Abby FFA chapter attended the Fall Leadership Conference at Granton in September 2023. The students attended workshops about being a good leader in the agriculture industry and all aspects of their community.

TRAVELING ALL OVER CENTRAL WISCONSIN - Some officers of the Abby FFA chapter learned about various leadership and career development techniques at the Leadership Development event in Greenwood.
