Village ordinance not altered at meeting Tuesday

A special meeting of the village board was held Tuesday evening to act on a petition of Lamont’s Service Inc., to construct and erect fuel oil and gasoline tanks in excess of 5,000 gallons, behind his service station.

WIAA and Championship games here this week

The WIAA district basketball tournament is in progress for the sub-district of Athens and Abbotsford. The championship game for district winner will be played at the Abbotsford gymnasium Friday, Feb. 26.

Candidates speak at PTA meeting

The candidates for election positions on the Colby district school board were present at the PTA meeting Monday night in the little theatre. They were: George Kadonsky, Abbotsford, Bryce Luchterhand, Unity, and Don Peissig, Dorchester.

Ice skating contest held at Colby pond

Winners earned $1 and were as follows: Lisa Badzinski, Dennis Galowski, Gail Ganz, Camille Pawlowicz, Keith Zygowicz, James Weigel, David Diedrich, Greg Ganz, Carol Brown, Sherri Dorn, Judy Strathman, Brian Pawlowicz, Greg Sterzinger and Dawn Pawlowicz.

Falcons end season with 52-50 win

The Abbotsford Falcons ended the season on a good note with a 52-50 win over Stratford on the home boards. The win puts the Falcons in fourth place in the Marawood conference.

Shortner Park improvements may start at landfill site

The initial development of Abbotsford’s Shortner Park will take place in the new southern segment of the park, which is now occupied by the municipal landfill, a committee agreed last week.

Weiler, Smazal will wrestle in state meet

Travis Weiler and Robbie Smazal of the Abbotsford-Colby wrestling squad will advance to the WIAA State Tournament in Madison this weekend after qualifying at the Amery Sectional Feb. 20.
