The girls basketball program was in action on their home court over the week, against two tough conference opponents.
Feb. 6 vs. Osseo-Fairchild conference (L 56-48)
Osseo-Fairchild was first up, with the Hornets taking a slim, two-point lead into halftime.
“It was a close match-up, we played very well,” said coach Dave Hazuga. “We’ve been improving our rebounding, that will always lead to a competitive game.”
However, the Thunder rallied in the second part of the game to outscore Cadott and take a 56-48 win home with them.
“The improvement is showing in the players, we just came up a little short in the second half,” said Hazuga.
Sophomore Kennedy Nerdrum led for the Hornets, with 19 points, while senior Emma Kowalczyk ended with 15 and sophomore Taylor Hager had 7. Junior Tarynn Donahue followed that with 5 points and sophomore Lilly Spaeth finished with 2.

Next for the Hornets, was Fall Creek, but scoring was a major factor in the first half, with Cadott only putting 10 points up on the board. The second half was a different matter and Cadott was able to stick with the Crickets, but still saw the match go their way, 66-32.
“We showed alot of improvement since the first time we played them,” said Hazuga. “Girls really fought and competed hard. It’s important they feel the improvements.”
Hager came out on top for the Hornets, with 14 points, while Kowalczyk had 9 and Nerdrum added 6. Junior Kasey Moldrem also connected on a three-pointer.
