Mobile credit union branch a success
The Simplicity Credit Union school branch is off to a strong start! Since opening week on Oct. 3, students have made over 165 deposits, with rapid growth in January. Over the past three weeks, student deposits have ranged from 25-36 deposits each week! The partnership with Simplicity Credit Union, the Eau Claire Community Foundation and the Loyal School District has brought fun and learning to life when saving real money for future financial goals of our students.
Guest speaker teaches students about money management
At right, guest visitor Ashley Landwehr from Simplicity Credit Union in Marshfield presented to all K-5 classes on Jan. 16, 22 and 23 on the following topics: - Kindergarten – What is a credit union?
- First grade – needs and wants - Second grade – spending, saving and sharing - Third grade – borrowing money (loans) - Fourth grade – managing a checking account - Fifth grade – the stock market Hands-on learning, discussions, and various activities helped students explore various topics related to financial literacy.
