Pint Size Polka
Laugh, sing, and clap along with family-friendly polka music by the Mike Schneider Band. The show will be at MCPL Athens (211 Caroline St.) on June 28 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The show is free and open to the public. For more information call the Athens library at 715-257-7292.
Farmers Market
The Athens Farmers Market will be held each Tuesday, 4-7 p.m., at Athens Memorial Park.
Senior Card group
The Senior Citizens card group met on June 15 for weekly card playing at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall. Two games of Sheepshead were played. Steve Klockziem won the first game and Aaron Totzke took second place. Sally Stubbe won the second game and Andy Hoef took second. Wil Strack received low score.
Newcomers are encouraged to come play Sheepshead every Thursday starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Athens Fire Hall.
E dgar Birth announcement
Ellie Marie Knetter was born on June 9, weighing 5 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 19 inches long, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Ellie’s parents are Kate and Jake Knetter of Edgar.

Make a Magic Wand

Summer LEGO Parties

Summer concerts
Marathon City Heritage Center and Park is hosting a live music series over the summer. All concerts will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Marathon City Heritage Center Park, 301 Main St. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Food and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for sale at each event.

Farmers market
The Marathon City Farmers Market will run every Thursday from 2-6 p.m. until October 26. The market is located in downtown Marathon at 400 Main St.
S tratford Lions Club minutes
The club held its May 13 and June 14 meetings at the Stratford Community Hall at 6 p.m. Members and guests enjoyed refreshments and a delicious meal.
The members addressed new and old agendas. Some items of interest were: At the club’s May meeting Lion Paul Rozak introduced SHS Foreign Exchange Student Sara Sandberg from Sweden. Sara introduced her host family and spoke about her life in Sweden and her experiences here. She took several questions from the group. Mila Krimm from Germany was unable to attend.
Lions Paul Rozak, Scott Winch and Troy Bargender introduced the SHS “Students of the Month.” They were Bailey Linzmaier, Lance Krieg, Jackson Ormond, Ashlyn Solinsky, Sydney Kafka, Sophia Meyer and Allison Lindner. The students were accompanied by their parents. The group congratulated them for their effort and achievements over the past school year.
This year’s Stratford Lions $500 scholarship recipients were: Tessa Berg, Sophia Meyer, Conner Weigel and Ashton Wrensch.
Stratford Lions Golf outing will be on September 10 at MCC. Shotgun start begins at 9:30 a.m.
Stratford Lions brat fry will be on Friday, June 23, at the ProVision parking lot.

UM Duluth Dean’s List
Eli Drexler, a senior within the Labovitz School of Business and Economics at the University of Minnesota Duluth, was recently named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. Students who are on the dean’s list have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher while earning a minimum of 12 credits.
