wednesday, june 10, 1998 Edgar School District residents will vote again to raise revenue caps The Edgar Board of Education will attempt to pass another referendum to increase revenue caps. The board is planning to have the referendum up for public vote in September.

The move is in response to the significant number of people who have approached the board and asked if a particular program could be reinstated. Without higher revenue caps, however, the money is simply not there.

While some programs have survived due to fundraisers, Sue Haupt stated that she did not think the programs could continue indefinitely that way.

“A lot of people are sick and tired of people coming to their house with something to sell,” she said. “It’s time to say enough’s enough and go to referendum.”

Board member Gary Lewis urged being selective with what the referendum funds would pay for.

“I don’t think we should spend $13,000 or $14,000 on an activity bus that only 16 or 17 kids use,” Lewis said. “That’s not fair to the taxpayer.”
