A side of Kraut

Local teams are more important
During March and April, I filled up on enough gasoline in my car at Telschow Oil Co. in Stratford to earn two free BP C’mon Back Club Milwaukee Brewers tickets on select home games this season.
I wanted to attend a Brewers game on a warm summer night, so I chose the Brewers versus the Baltimore Orioles game today (Wednesday). I chose to upgrade my terrace level tickets to the field outfield box so my girlfriend and I could get closer to seeing the play on the field.
A few years ago, I took her to a Brewers game using the free pair of terrace level tickets and these seats were located too far away from the field for her pleasure. I was like a kid in a candy store when I received my Brewers versus Orioles tickets in the mail.
What I didn’t realize at the time when I ordered my Brewers tickets was that the spring varsity sports teams I cover for The Record-Review would make it so deep in the playoffs this season. I am still recovering from the very warm state track and field meet in La Crosse last weekend. Since I am also covering the Stratford softball team’s first ever trip to the state tournament at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday, June 8, in Madison, I really didn’t want to travel to Milwaukee for the Brewers game today (Wednesday).
I attempted to sell my Brewers tickets on my personal Facebook page at a reduced rate, so that I’d at least get some money back for them, but I didn’t have any takers. A friend of mine from Stratford alerted me today (Wednesday) that I could call the Milwaukee Brewers ticket office and exchange my pair of tickets for today’s game against the Orioles for a future home game on select BP C’mon Back Club dates this season.
The interesting thing about the Brewers ticket office putting me on hold today (Wednesday) when I called was the Brewers continually played tapes of announcers game calls, like the legendary Bob Uecker, from memorable walk-off wins by current players Willy Adames and Garrett Mitchell. There was even a tape of a game in which Brewers closer Devin Williams struck out the final batter for the victory.
I was able to exchange my tickets for the Brewers home game against the Orioles for the Wednesday night, September 27, home game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Hopefully both the Brewers and Cardinals are still in contention toward the end of the season for a Central Division crown or playoff spot.
Good luck to both the Edgar baseball and Stratford softball teams playing in their first ever state tournaments. The Wildcats play this Tuesday morning, June 13, in Grand Chute by Appleton.
