Taylor County Circuit Court Judge Ann Knox-Bauer said Thursday afternoon there was probable cause to suspect that Alexander Schneider, 28, committed charges related to domestic battery charges and the attempted homicide of Deputy Chad Kowalczyk.

The ruling came after a 90- minute preliminary hearing on the two separate, but related cases against Schneider.

December 16, 1998 Courtroom to be made accessible to the handicapped

Using funds from forefeited bail bonds in criminal cases, Courtroom No. 2 in the Taylor County Courthouse will be remodeled so that it complies with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) regulations.

The project requested by Judge Gary Carlson, who said the present courtroom doesn’t accommodate witnesses or jurors in wheelchairs.

50 Years Ago December 13, 1973 Klingbeil Lbr. Co. Sets Grand Opening

Following completion of a large building to house a showroom and office, Klingbeil Lumber Co., Medford, will hold a grand opening today, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the lumber company’s center one-quarter mile west of Medford on highway 64.

In addition to specials being offered, visitors will be asked to register for prizes and will be offered coffee and refreshments.

75 Years Ago December 16, 1948 Stetsonville Moves for Incorporation

The initial steps to incorporate Stetsonville as a village was taken Friday evening at a meeting when 70 of the 72 persons attending voted to have a committee proceed with the necessary legal steps to bring about the change.

At present time the area known as Stetsonville is a part of the towns of Deer Creek and Little Black. For several months the Commercial club of Stetsonville has been obtaining data on incorporation procedure, and the findings were presented at Friday’s public meeting.

100 Years Ago December 13, 1923 Gamper Favors Buying Power Barn Sprayers

Taylor county Assemblyman John Gamper favors buying one or more power sprayers for use in whitewashing the cow barns of the county. He points out that it is necessary to clean up premises very thoroughly before the state will reimburse the owners of cattle killed to prevent the spread of tuberculosis.

Mr. Gamper touched on this subject in his talk at the recent t.b. demonstration at the fair grounds, and he has since expressed his opinion regarding the purchase of sprayers.

The Wisconsin Central will sell excursion tickets to all points in Wisconsin within a radius of 200 miles at a rate of 1 1/3 fare for round trip on December 24, 25, 26 and 31, 1898.
