MEDFORD ARCHERY CLUB

The Medford Archery Club was clearly the dominant program at the Centershot Ministries Wisconsin State Tournament, held Saturday in Green Bay.

Landen Viergutz and Kirsten Weix swept the individual championships in both the bullseye and 3-D shoots to win the overall male and female archer awards for the second straight year to lead the Raiders. Medford’s high school team was the team champion in both shoots, Dylan Emmerich was the boys elementary champion in the bullseye shoot and Jenna Wickersheim and Ezra Hillebrand were second-place archers in both high school shoots.

The 3-D shoot attracted 67 participants. Medford’s high school team score was 1,686 and included 112 10-point shots from its seven archers.

Viergutz had 24 of those 10s while earning a score of 294 out of a possible 300 to win the high school boys title by 10 points over Hillebrand, who had 16 10s in his 284. Weix finished with a 291 that included 22 10s. She edged Wickersheim by three. She had 21 10s in her round of 288.

Kaedence Ecklund was fourth among high school girls with her score of 269 and Christine Czeshinski was seventh at 257. Collin Rausch added a score of 260 to

Emmerich’s 237 put him fourth in the elementary boys division.

In the bullseye shoot, Viergutz and Weix again had the top scores, this time out of 135 archers. Medford’s high school team score was 1,691 with the eight members hitting 108 10-point shots.

Viergutz won the high school boys division with his score of 291 that included 21 10s. Weix shot a 289 with 22 10s to win the girls division. Hillebrand was six points behind Viergutz and hit 18 10s to rank second among boys. Wickersheim shot a 281 with 14 10s to place second behind Weix. Ecklund was seventh out of 19 high school girls with a 273, Elizabeth Nelles was 13th with a score of 256 and Czeshinski was 15th at 252. Rausch was 11th out of 23 high school boys with his score of 272.

Emmerich’s 274 included 12 10-point shots and topped a field of 17 elementary boys. He was two points ahead of Spencer Emmerich from Columbus. Chet Paul was 15th with his 216. Hank Paul was seventh out of 24 middle school boys with his 267 and Xander Schmidt was 18th at 236.

The Centershot Ministries Eastern National shoots are set for May 11-13 in Louisville, Ky. in conjunction with the NASP national events.
