On October 25, a vehicle driven by Allen Eldred, 81, of Westboro was traveling westbound on CTH D nearing the intersection with Hamilton Dr. when his vehicle crossed the center line and continued steadily into the ditch on the south side of the road, as the roadway began to curve right. Eldred’s vehicle came back up the ditch as it reached Hamilton Dr. and became airborne, entering a wooded area west of Hamilton Dr. Eldred’s vehicle struck trees and left a debris field as it continued west before coming to rest right side up facing north towards CTH D. Eldred was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. Eldred was declared deceased at the scene. Blood tests are pending.Taylor County Sheriff’s office

R eports Deer Related

On October 26, at 2:27 p.m., a vehicle driven by Tami Otto, 56, of Mazomanie struck a deer on CTH M in the town of Molitor.

On October 30, at 7:15 a.m., a vehicle driven by Kevin Krultz, 39, of Medford struck a deer on CTH E in the town of Medford.

On October 30, at 6:22 p.m., a vehicle driven by Donald Hederer, 60, of Westboro struck a deer on STH 13 in the town of Medford.

On October 30, at 9:28 p.m., a vehicle driven by Jacob Graap, 18, of Merrill struck a deer on CTH M in the town of Chelsea.

On November 3, at 7:14 a.m., a vehicle driven by Jacob Olson, 30, of Sheldon struck a deer on CTH H in the town of McKinley.

On November 5, at 8:43 a.m., a vehicle driven by Patrick Porten, 64, of Medford struck a deer on STH 64 in the town of Goodrich.

One Vehicle Crashes

On October 24, at 7:37 p.m., officers were dispatched to a crash near 726 E Broadway Ave. Upon their arrival, a vehicle owned by Diana Olivas of Medford had been moved into a parking lot east of where the accident occurred. The unknown driver of Olivas’ vehicle had fled the scene prior to officers arrival. There was an imprint of a tire in the grass on the south curb leading to the utility pole on the south side of Broadway Ave. The imprint then continued after the pole. The vehicle returned to the roadway and then to the parking lot. Damage was caused by the front right side of Olivas vehicle making contact with the west side of the pole. Officers at the scene could detect a strong odor of intoxicants.

On October 31, at 5:27 a.m., a vehicle driven by Jean Jarchow, 42, of Rib Lake was southbound on STH 13. Jarchow advised that she lost control on the snow covered road, entered the west ditch striking a mailbox and culvert at the driveway embankment, before coming to a rest facing the north. There were no injuries as a result of the accident. Jarchow’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

On October 31, at 8:15 a.m., a vehicle driven by Raymond Gengler, 17, of Medford was traveling east on Perkinstown Ave. when it left the roadway after negotiating a curve. Gengler’s vehicle slid into the south ditch where it came in contact with numerous trees. The vehicle eventually came to a rest facing east. It sustained functional damage to the front end and passenger side. The vehicle was removed from the ditch and driven from the scene. There were no injuries reported as a result of the accident.

On November 5, at 12:14 p.m., a vehicle driven by Ashton Wehe, 17, of Medford was traveling through the roundabout northbound on STH 13. Wehe locked up the brakes on the wet surface of the road causing the vehicle to slide through the roundabout. Wehe’s vehicle came to rest in the northeast ditch. There were no injuries as a result of the accident.

Two Vehicle Crashes

On October 31, at 6:30 a.m., a semi truck owned by Prochnow Trucking and driven by Gene Ertl, 61, of Westboro was traveling southbound on Progessive Ave. A vehicle driven by David Matyka, 61, of Athens was exiting the Marathon Cheese parking lot, entering traffic and struck the side of Ertl’s vehicle. There were no apparent injuries as a result of the accident.

On November 1, at 4:45 a.m., a vehicle driven by Conner Schwartz, 22, of Medford was parking his vehicle when he struck an unoccupied vehicle owned by Macey Fischer, 24, of Medford. There was minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

On November 3, at 8:25 p.m., a vehicle driven by Kathryn Holmes, 62, of Westboro was attempting to leave a parking lot. Holmes stopped to let another vehicle back out. While stopped, a vehicle driven by Colton Fuchs, 17, of Medford began backing out of its parking spot ultimately striking Holmes’ vehicle. Holmes’ vehicle sustained damage to the passenger side door and window. Fuchs’ vehicle did not have any visible damage done to the rear of the vehicle. There were no injuries as a result of the accident.

Hit and Run

On October 22 at 6:07 p.m., a hit and run accident was reported to have occurred in the parking lot of 224 S 2nd St. in the city of Medford. Rachel Ogle of Medford stated that she came out to her vehicle and noticed damage to the front passenger fender. She also located a note reading, “sorry I hit your car a little, I thought I was in R not D, my name is Noah Robl.” A phone number was included on the note. Ogle’s vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the accident. Noah Robl, 26, of Medford and occupants did not remain on scene or notify law enforcement of the accident. Exact time of the crash is unknown. Ogle’s vehicle did sustain minor damage. The extent of damage to Robl’s vehicle is unknown. Robl was cited for hit and run (unattended vehicle), operating motor vehicle without insurance, failure to keep vehicle under control and failure to file accident report.


On November 4, at 8:31 a.m., a vehicle driven by Karen Dahlvig, 63, of Medford was slowing eastbound to stop at the intersection of STH 13 and STH 64. A vehicle traveling northbound on STH 13 turned east on STH 64 at a high rate of speed and crossing their lane of travel. This vehicle struck Dahlvig’s vehicle, which was legally in its lane of travel. This vehicle left the scene eastbound on STH 64. Dahlvig’s vehicle sustained damage to the left front of the vehicle. The other vehicle likely sustained similar damage. There were no apparent injuries as a result of the accident.Medford Police Department
