Hopes were high Sept. 1, for the Lake Holcombe football program, as they kicked off one of very few home games this year. Facing off with non-conference opponent Athens is never easy, but the Chieftains had some good defensive plays going for them and kept the high-scoring visitors to only six points.

Neither team scored in the second quarter, but by the time they came out of the break, the Bluejays shook off the slump and came up with 16 points to Lake Holcombe’s zero. Athens would go on to add one more touchdown in the final quarter, to claim a 30-0 win.
