Chieftains feel the heat from Dragons

By Ginna Young

Facing off with a larger Siren team, the Lake Holcombe girls basketball program opened their season Nov. 15, in an away game with the Dragons.

The Chieftains scored most of their points in the first half, but were outmatched by Siren, 47-21, by halftime. Lake Holcombe held Siren to 32 points in the second half, but scored just nine points on their own side of the book.

As time ran out, the non-conference game went to the Dragons, 79-30, handing the Chieftains their first loss.

Scoring points on the floor for Lake Holcombe, was senior Karly Kirkman, who knocked down a pair of three-pointers, finishing with 10 points. Sophomore Abby Jones followed that up with 4 points.

Senior Justine Kane, junior Emma Lechleitner and freshman Lexi Hoffner all added 2 points for the Chieftains.
