New doctor added to clinic Dr. Raymond Hanson joins Dr. J.W. Koch at the Colby Clinic after receiving a degree as a doctor of medicine at UW-Madison.
Hand made gifts sent by VFW Aux. for Bazaar An assortment of pillow cases, rugs, towels and other handmade items were donated by the Abbotsford VFW Auxiliary for a bazaar to be held during the national encampment at Milwaukee on August 2 to 7.
Abbies lose big lead but still triumph The Abbotsford Guards blew a seven run lead in the third inning but roared back to trounce Owen 15-9 in an exhibition game. Dick Fischer held back the opposing lineup in a relief appearance on the mound while collecting three hits and two doubles.

Five PCA Drivers honored for safety Ralph Andrew, Edward Brown, Arthur Cole, Bernard Polzin and William Young Jr. were admitted to the Million Mile Club of the National Safety Council for driving more than one million miles without a preventable accident.
Colby centennial celebration starts tonight with banquet The centennial queen is set to be named at the banquet at the Colby Hotel and the beards of the “bushy brothers” will be judged following the meal, with six categories of beards to be judged.

Principal, superintendent resign from Colby High school principal Randy Kuhnau resignation was accept with a 5-2 vote that he pay the district $500 in liquidated damages for having attended two conferences at the school’s cost and then shortly thereafter accepting a position at Wisconsin Dells. Meanwhile superintendent Paul Vine resigned to take on a new position in Rice Lake.
Fun Fly held at Dorchester The Hobbyland Flyers held their annual Fun Fly event, where enthusiasts of radio-controlled airplanes of all shapes and sizes gather a few miles east of Dorchester to pilot their aircraft and get together with others that share the same passion.
