Over 300 Attend Athens District Halloween Party Over 300 children of the Athens School District attened the Halloween Party sponsored by the FBLAFHA. Cartoons, games, coloring contest, pumpkin contest, and costume contest were the features of this party. Special thanks go to Diane Krenz, and Mrs. Sara Bishop for doing the judging of the various contests; and to Robely’s, Ben and Phil’s; the Athens Bake shop; Mason’s Lanes; Tessmer’s IGA; Lucy’s Beauty shop; the Athen’s Coop; Erv’s Crystal Bar; Clar and Bernie’s; Hardware Hank; Athens Rexall Drug Store; and Hartman’s Variety Store for their donations for the party.
Contest winners were: Pumpkin contest: Ages 3-5: Patrick Kreft, 6-8: Jim Lavicka and Ranee Romang and 9 and up: Randell Becker and Jayne Rausch.
Costume Contest: Ages 3-5: Shawn Joey Tessmer.
Crayon contest: Ages 3-5: Nichole Bunkelman, 6-8: Tony Niewolny and 9 and up: Steves Daniels.
Clothes pin drop: ages 3-5: Besty Branke and Candy Balz. 6-8: Ann Smozynski, 9 and up: Lisa Sommer and Bishop, 6-8: Shane Guralaski and 9 and up Jon Felzkowski.
The advisors for the groups were Anne Rehm, who played the Great Pumpkin, Andy Ruzeck and Ruth Pederson. The party ended with each child receiving a bag of treats.

Motor Vehicles Registered in Marathon County, State County Clerk Ray Ott received a 197677 report for July 1 through June 30 on motor vehicle registration for Marathon County. There were 47,615 registered automobiles, 13,940 trucks of all types, trailers of all types 2,620 buses 46, motorcycles 3,976 and municipal vehicles 39. Total registration in Marathon County for 1976-77 was 68,236. I do want to mention that the interesting factor is that in 1976 there were more automobiles but less trucks, trailers, buses and municipal vehicles.
In comparison to 1976, we had 1,259 less automobiles registered in Marathon County, but we had 3,837 more trucks registered than in 1976 in Marathon County and there were 249 more trailers registered than in 1976. On the motorcycle side there were 78 more motorcycles registered in 1977 than 1976. There were 7 more municipal vehicles in 1977 over 1976. The overall picture for the State of Wisconsin was that there were 2,159,456 automobiles registered and total vehicle registration in the State of Wisconsin for 1977 was 2,886,654 compared to 2,773,511 registered vehicles in the State of Wisconsin for 1976. Stratford Harriers Complete Fine Season The Stratford Cross Country team finished second in the Marawood Conference meet held at Athens on October 21st. Two Tiger runners made the all conference team by placing in the top five of the meet.
