Hornets get pecked by Cardinals program

By Ginna Young

Coming in with a three-game winning streak, the Cadott football program packed up and headed to Spring Valley Oct. 7, for a Dunn-St. Croix showdown.

Both teams got off to a slow start, with the game remaining scoreless in the first quarter. The Cardinals would shake off the first-quarter doldrems, to score two touchdowns, while Cadott was held scoreless.

Spring Valley again scored in the third quarter, but Cadott came to life in the fourth, with a touchdown pass from senior Tristan Drier to junior Connor Roth, to make the score 21-6. The extra point attempt was good and the Hornets were ready for a rally.

However, Spring Valley refused to go down and scored a final touchdown in the game. Cadott put up one more touchdown on the board with seconds ticking off the clock, from a pass by Drier to senior Tegan Ritter, but the extra point was unsuccessful as time ran out. The Cardinals took the win, 28-13.

Leading on passing, was Drier, with 112 yards, while junior Easton Goodman had 40 yards in rushing. Senior NicK Fasbender came away with 24 yards rushing, while Drier had 19 and Ritter recorded 11.

On receiving, Roth notched 42, followed by Goodman, with 37, Ritter, with 37, and junior Jordan Peters, with 9.

Cadott’s record now stands at 6-2 overall and 4-2 in league play.
