The stakes were high for the Cadott softball program, as they went into Regionals for the post-season.

May 23 vs. Augusta Regional (W 7-4)

With Cadott as the No. 6 seed, the Hornets traveled the short distance to No. 3 Augusta, for first round action in the playoffs. It was a back-and-forth contest, but in the end, Cadott would prevail over the Beavers, 7-4, to advance to the second leg of Regionals.

“Elly (Eiler) was on fire hitting, and Morgan (Moldrem) and Kasey (Moldrem) hit a double each, to seal the win,” said coach Kari Moldrem. “Before that, Laken (Ryan) had a great bunt to bring Rilei (Weeks) in for the lead run.”

Kasey Moldrem went all seven innings, only giving up 5 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 10.

The senior Eiler and sophomore Kasey Moldrem each had 2 hits for the Hornets, while seniors Ryan, M. Moldrem and Eva Enestvedt, sophomore Weeks, and freshmen Kennedy Nerdrum and Lexi Bremness all added a hit.

“I am so proud how the girls played against Augusta,” said Kari Moldrem.

May 25 vs. Colfax Regional (L 10-5)

It was then off to No. 2 Colfax, where Cadott was in for a battle to continue their year. The Hornets were held scoreless throughout almost all the game, until the fifth inning, when they brought in three runs, followed by two in the sixth.

The late scoring wouldn’t be enough and with the 10 runs scored by the Vikings, Cadott’s season was at an end, 10-5.

“It’s hard to see the season end sooner than I wanted,” said Kari Moldrem.

Kasey Moldrem again was on the mound for the Hornets, picking up six innings.

Offensively, Eiler notched 2 hits, followed by senior Lauryn Goett, M. Moldrem, Weeks and freshman Karlee Davis, who all chipped in with a hit.

“The five seniors will leave some holes to be filled,” said Kari Moldrem.
