High school concert at gym is well received
A concert by the high school music department, given at the gymnasium, had an attendance of about 200 persons, in spite of the blustery night.
V.F.W. chooses officers Newly elected were: Robert Frautschy, commander, Ed Weisenberger, senior vice-commander, William Herman, junior vice-commander, Dick Prellei; quartermaster and Harvey Bitter, chaplain.
Hunters tree bear
While wolf hunting, Clarence Kalepp, Clinton and Sherman Loos, Fred Scidmore, Pete Wilde and several other men from Colby treed a bear. The big bruin weighed about 300 pounds, climbed a tree and snarled and growled at the intruders.

Colby youth to receive Boy Scout eagle award
Colby 16-year-old Bryan Hauser, a junior at Colby High School and son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hauser has earned the highest honor in Boy Scouts.
Voters turn down project
By a vote of 749 to 301, electors of the Colby School District Tuesday turned down the proposed $1.3 million expansion project which called for construction of a new elementary school and an addition to the current junior-senior high facilities.
