Hornets come up short in playoffs with the Mustangs

Weather was against the Cadott boys basketball squad, in what was supposed to be their last regular season game and senior Tegan Ritter’s last time on his home court in a Hornets jersey. Since the program didn’t get to finish out the season as planned, they headed to the WIAA Regional game Feb. 28, at No. 4 seeded Melrose-Mindoro, coming in ranked 13th.
The Mustangs proved tough competition, as Cadott struggled to put points on the board, going into halftime down by 16. It all came down to the second portion of the game, in which the Hornets desperately needed to catch up to the Mustangs, while dominating the scoreboard.
It wasn’t to be, as Melrose-Mindoro outscored Cadott like in the first half, claiming a 59-31 victory and ending the Hornets’ playoff run.
Leading for Cadott, was sophomore Warren Bowe, who shot for 13 points, followed by Ritter, with 7. Sophomore Nolan Freed came next, with 4 points, while junior Nolan Blum was right behind, with 3, and juniors Brodee Burish and Jordan Peters each added 2 points.
