Title I students see growth

Many exciting things have been happening in Title I. At the end of January, the elementary Title I staff had the chance to meet with elementary teachers to look over data from our most recent round of benchmark tests and there was plenty to celebrate. Many of our students have shown some exciting growth.
In elementary Title I, we continue to meet with small reading groups on a daily basis, working to develop strong decoding and encoding skills. We are also really working on rate and fluency as students prepare to move up in grade levels.
In math, students are continuing to show nice progress in their work on MobyMax. We are really pushing fact fluency this spring and are already seeing some nice growth. The middle school Title I teachers continue to push into math and English classes to support students. They also provide extra help with homework and reading/math strategies to students during GIT times.
The Title I department has planned some exciting events. During the week of March 6 to 10, we will celebrate Read Across America with dress-up days, book trivia and mystery readers.
Plans are also in the works for what should be an exciting Family Reading Night during spring parent teacher conferences on April 20. All families and their children are invited to attend. Students must be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian when attending Family Reading Night. There will be places to read/hear favorite stories, crafts to make, take-home reading activities, a game room for middle school and high school students, food to eat, and some special character guests from a favorite children’s series.
