Children and families can sink their teeth into a sharkthemed story time from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20 at the Marathon County Public Library’s Stratford Branch.

Attendees can hear shark stories and make sharkthemed cratfts. Story time is free and parents can call the Stratford Library at 715-687-4420 for more information.

On campus

Max Schwabe of Stratford has been awarded to the Honor List at Minnesota State University, Mankato for the spring semester in the 2021-22 academic year. Students at Mankato State who achieve between a 3.5 and 3.99 GPA are on the Honor List.

Isaac Thompson of Stratford was named to the dean’s list at UW-Milwaukee for the spring semester of the 2021-22 academic year.

Thompson studies engineering and computer science at UW-Milwaukee.

Courtney Krall of Stratford graduated from Drake University after the spring semester with her Doctor of Pharmacy.

Riley Bauman of Stratford, son of Scott and Michelle Bauman, was awarded to the dean’s list at St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minn., for the spring semester in the 2021-22 academic year.

Undergraduates need to earn between a 3.60 or better on a 4.0 scale to make it on the St. Mary’s University dean’s list.

Isabelle Hauke of Stratford graduted from UW-Sout in May of 2022 with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood.

McKenzie Ford, Hannah Krueger, Jenna Lieders and Justin Radtke were named to the dean’s list at UW-Oshkosh for the spring semester in the 2021-22 academic year.

Brooke Grell and Cade Littleton were named to the Honor Roll at UW-Oshkosh for the spring semester in the 2021-22 school year.

The term GPA requirement for University Honor Roll is 3.3 and for Dean’s list is 3.75 out of a possible 4.0.

Traveling art gallery

The Marathon County Public Library’s Little Art Exhibit will be on display at the library’s Stratford Branch, located at 213201 Scholar St., from Monday, July 25 until Saturday, Aug. 6. The gallery contains mini works of art created by community members. The Little Art Exhibit is free to attend.

Summer reading

Throughout the summer, children can earn free books by participating in the Marathon County Public Library’s (MCPL) Summer Reading Club.

Children can stop by any MCPL location until Wednesday, July 31, to pick up a summer reading review sheet, or track their reading online withk the free Beanstack app.

Parents can call the MCPL headquarters in Wausau at 715-261-7220 to gain more information on the children’s summer reading program.

Book Club

The public is welcome to join the Marathon County Public Library (MCPL) staff and fellow readers at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, for a wonderful Book Club discussion of author Paulette Jiles acclaimed novel “News of the World.”
