n February 6 - An officer was dispatched to a residence for a child custody issue. Dispatch advised that the reporting party was the child’s biological mother and was picking up her children when she was attacked by the children’s step mother.

Upon arrival, the officer met with the children’s mother who started to explain what happened when another female, later identified as the children’s step mother, interrupted and came out of the house yelling at the biological mother.

The stepmother said she and the children’s father have been trying to get into contact with the biological mother for some time in order to get an updated address for her. The stepmother said they had been trying to serve the biological mother with court papers but the court papers could not be delivered because she was never home.

The stepmother said the sheriff’s office had attempted to deliver the papers to her father’s address but the biological mother’s father told the deputy she does not live there.

The stepmother said when the biological mother showed up to pick up the children, she confronted the woman and asked her what her current address was so they could serve her papers. The biological mother refused to tell her and began recording her with her phone.

The stepmother said she got upset and attempted to grab the phone out of the other woman’s hand. She said the biological mother began yelling and said she was going to call the police and report that she was assaulted. The stepmother said she did not assault the woman and just did not want to be recorded. The woman said she did not physically hit the woman in any way.

The officer then got the other woman’s side of the story. The woman said she was struck while the stepmother was attempting to knock her phone out of her hand and said it caused her pain. The officer got an updated address for the biological mother and mailed a citation for disorderly conduct to the step mother.

The driver said he did not know the registration for the vehicle had expired and said he did not have any insurance on the vehicle. Clark County dispatch notified the officer the man had a suspended driving status.

K9 Dodge arrived on-scene and performed a narcotics sniff of the vehicle. Dodge alerted to the vehicle and the officer had the man step out of the vehicle. Nothing was located on the driver’s person and the officer searched the vehicle.

The man had two open cases through Wood County which had bond conditions stating the man was not to posses any controlled substances without a prescription.

The officer tested both substances which came back with positive results for THC and methamphetamine.
