Breaking their losing streak and gaining some confidence as the season intensifies, the Cadott boys basketball program had a three-game stretch over the week.
Jan. 31 vs. Stanley-Boyd conference (L 68-48)
Heading to rival Stanley-Boyd, the Hornets knew it would be a battle, as tensions are always high during the neighboring towns’ match-up. This time was no different and at the close of the night, the Orioles claimed the victory over Cadott, 68-48.
Leading for the Hornets, was senior Tegan Ritter, with 17 points, while sophomore Warren Bowe notched several three-pointers, ending with 15 points, followed by sophomore Nolan Freed, with 8, and junior Bradee Burish, with 6.
Junior Easton Goodman added 2 points to the mix, and junior Elijah Burich and sophomore Jackson Barone each chipped in with a free throw.
Feb. 3 vs. McDonell conference (L 76-58)
A few nights later, Cadott hosted the ever tough Mc-Donell, with things getting off to a slow start on offense for the Hornets. Cadott went into halftime down by 18 points, but after the break, the Hornets matched the Macks point by point.
With the deficit from the first half, Cadott couldn’t catch up and the game went to McDonell, 76-58.
Junior Nolan Blum carried off honors for his team, with 16 points, while Burish added 10, followed by Freed, with 8. Ritter and Bowe each came up with 9 points, with Barone chipping in with 4 and Goodman notching 2 points.
Feb. 6 vs. Augusta non-conference (W 61-58)
To finish out the three-game stretch, the Hornets traveled the short distance to Augusta, for an out-of-conference match. Things finally fell into place for Cadott, as they took a slim lead into halftime.
The Beavers wouldn’t go down without a fight, but the Hornets refused to let the game slip away and claimed a 6158 victory.
Cadott is now 5-14 on the season and remain winless in the West Cloverbelt Conference at 0-11.
Blum again led with 16 points, with Bowe notching 12 points, followed by Ritter, with 10. Burish and Goodman came next, with 8 points, while Barone had 5.
