Cadott has offense trouble before finding their rhythm

By Ginna Young

It was a rough week for the Cadott boys basketball program, as their offense struggled against some tough league competition.

Jan. 3 vs. McDonell conference (L 65-25)

Cadott’s woe began with a trip to McDonell, going up against some high-scoring players.

The Hornets only managed to put up 10 points on the board in the first half, while McDonell racked up 31. The second half went much the same way, with the Macks outscoring Cadott, while continuing to add to the lead.

Eventually, the Hornets had to concede the game to McDonell, 65-25.

Senior Tegan Ritter provided most of the offense for Cadott, notching 23 points, while junior Easton Goodman added 2.

Jan. 6 vs. Regis conference (L 63-38)

A few days later, Cadott then headed to powerhouse Regis. Scoring came easier this time around, but still was lacking.

The Hornets were down by 17 at halftime, but pushed their second-half scoring to 21, while holding the Ramblers to 29. It still wouldn’t be enough to come up with a victory and the match went to Regis, 63-38.

Sophomore Warren Bowe had the high points of the night, with 22, followed by junior Brodee Burish, with 7. Sophomore Nolan Freed was right behind, with 6, and junior Nolan Blum chipped in with 3 points.

Jan. 9 vs. Stanley-Boyd conference (L 59-56)

To close out the week, the Hornets hosted their arch rival, Stanley-Boyd, in a conference battle. The game was locked at 28-28 in the first half and kept up that pace through the second portion of the game.

Finally getting their rhythm back, Cadott gave the Orioles a real run for their money, but ultimately fell just short, watching the match go to the visitors, 59-56.

Ritter led for the Hornets, with 17 points, while Bowe ended with 10 and junior Jordan Peters had 9. Burish and Blum each added 7 points, and sophomore Parker Davis came up with 6.

Cadott’s record is now 4-8 overall and 0-5 in the West Cloverbelt Conference.
