Teams fall to the sting of undefeated Hornets

By Ginna Young

Cadott’s girls basketball program continues to roll over their opponents, remaining undefeated.

Jan. 3 vs. Whitehall non-conference (W 65-32)

Stepping out of conference, Cadott traveled to Whitehall, to begin the week.

“It’s always been a good game when we play them,” said coach Dave Hazuga.

The Hornets took a 12-point lead into the break, then outscored Whitehall, 37-16 in the second half, for a commanding 65-32 victory.

“Our defense is working on being more consistent and I thought we did that,” said Hazuga.

Senior Lauryn Goettl came up big for Cadott, with 22 points, followed by senior Elly Eiler, with 15, and junior Emma Kowalczyk, with 12. Senior Eva Enestvedt came next, with 6, while freshman Taylor Hager finished with 4 points and senior Laken Ryan had 3.

Sophomore McKenna Steinke also got on the board, with 2 points, and junior Bradee Burish chipped in with 1.

“A lot of contributions from different girls,” said Hazuga.

Jan. 5 vs. Bloomer conference (W 69-52)

A few days later, it was back to conference action and off to Bloomer, for a hard-fought game.

“We got off to a good start,” said Hazuga. “We had a scretch where they made a comeback. We came out strong after halftime and held it from there.”

The game went to Cadott, 69-52, extending their undefeated record to 12-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

Goettl came up with another 22 points, with Eiler notching 16 and Ryan scoring 13. Kowalczyk had 8 points on the night, followed by sophomore Tarynn Donahue, with 3. Enestvedt, Hager and freshman Kennedy Nerdrum each contributed 2 points, and Burish added 1.

“All these conference games are going to be tough,” said Hazuga.
