Chiefs comes up just short against Trojans

By Ginna Young

Hosting New Auburn is no easy feat, but the Cornell girls basketball squad showed what they’re made of, sticking with the visiting Trojans Dec. 20.

Cornell was down by eight at halftime, but by the second half, the Chiefs found new life and threw a scare into New Auburn. However, time ran out and Cornell was forced to concede the match to the Trojans, 40-30.

The loss puts the Chiefs at 3-7 on the season, with a 2-2 record in league action.

Senior Kelsea Popp led the way in scoring for Cornell, with 16 points, while sophomore Bralee Schroeder ended with 6. Juniors Lauren Samardzich and Makya Hetherington each added 4 points.
